Braun 8985 is one of many models of men’s electric shavers manufactured by Braun. It has now been replaced by the Braun Shaver Series 5 570cc. However, the Braun 8985 shaver, as well as its replacement parts are still readily available.

Braun 8985 Reviews!

The reviews of the Braun 8985 vary enormously. You’d hardly think the same shaver is being reviewed! Some people absolutely love this shaver, and besides being slightly noisy, it is the best shaver they have ever had. However, not everyone agrees. There are those who absolutely hate the Braun 8985 shaver, but after spending quite a bit of money buying the shaver, are very unwilling just to toss it.

So let’s see if we can sort out some of these problems. We can all agree that every appliance needs maintenance. If you use a Braun shaver, which does have an excellent reputation, you will need to replace the foil and cutter block. This seems to be where the problem lies.

The correct replacement foil and cutter for the Braun 8985 is the Braun 8000 360 Complete Foil and Cutter Block. However, many users feel that these parts are of an inferior quality. It doesn’t live up to expectations, with shaving becoming a problem after only a few shaves. Having a rough shave resulting in an irritated skin definitely doesn’t make for a happy chap! Similar complaints can be found in the many reviews. However there are very many satisfied customers who are still using their Braun 8985 with the Braun Series 3 Combi 30B Foil and Cutter Replacement Pack, rather than the recommended replacement. Another very satisfied customer recommends using the foil and cutter from the 7000 series set for a Braun 8985 shaver. In fact this customer claims that the shave is now even better than when he first bought the shaver!

If you contact any Braun rep they will not recommend these replacements but if the alternative is to toss your Braun 8985 shaver through sheer frustration it might be worth a go. You might still be able to have an effortless, very smooth, close shave, in fact, the very reason you bought the Braun 8985 in the first place!
